Design Crawl and Walking Camp

(see map) 9am - 9:30am : coffee and9:30am - 12:30pm: Design Crawl - frog design, FuseProject, Rubyred Labs are opening their doors and giving presentations, we will provide you with a schedule (see map). Each design firm will discuss what they are doing in the mobile space as well as their views on the future of mobile. Update BetaThetaPiCamp October 19th 2007 12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch in the Ferry Building (lunch boxes will be there for you, but we need a headcount! - please sign up if you are not on the list already)1:30pm - 5:00pm: Mobile Meshwalk:5:00pm - 6:00pm: @ 330 Ritch Street - Begin populating the wiki, upload pictures (www.pikeo.com or www.flickr.com) and other captures of the day - USE THE TAG: mmwsf and meshwalk6:00pm - 9:00pm: Libations, Discussions, Food and Drinks @ 330 Ritch Street - Pictures of the day will be displayed at the venueWhat is the Mobile MeshWalk about:Crawl + Walk around the city thinking about innovation? The Mobile Mesh Walk is about Design and Mobile Marketing.Design Crawl will take place in the morning, but instead of having a designer come talk to us, we're taking it on the road. Design Crawl centered around SF's South Park area. Participants in the Design Crawl include FuseProject, and RubyRed Labs, and FrogDesign. (details to follow)Design Crawl will be followed by a Walking Camp in the afternoon. frog will be discussing the development of the Alltel Celltop mobile application.

We will have three "waypoints" where we will regroup as a group. The first waypoint is the San Francisco Art Institute (we will meet at the cafe, go into the courtyard, straight past the fountain to the cafe) the second is the Long Now Foundation @ Fort Mason (we will gather in front of the Long Now foundation's offices) and the third and final waypoint is the Palace of Fine Arts (we will meet under the domes) where we will meet transportation to take us back to 330 Ritch St. The buses back from the Palace of Fine Arts will only accomodate up to 25 people, so a group may optionally take the #30 Muni or may wait for the bus to return.

We may optionally stop as a group at other locations - communicated via twitter. The specific path we take to each waypoint is up to the groups. During the Mobile MeshWalk we will be looking at the role of advertising & commercial speech in a mobile context.

Coffee, pastries, and lunch will be provided. At the end of the day, we'll gather together at 330 Ritch Street for pictures comparisons, libations and discussions.
